Putting the Razzle Dazzle in Chicago

Chicago – High School Edition – closed on Sunday but for the cast, crew, musicians and staff the euphoria of being involved in such an exhilarating production will last for months to come. Congratulations especially to our incredible Razzle and Dazzle leads: Siena Williams (Velma Kelly), Amelia Hooke (Roxie Hart), William Murray (Billy Flynn) and Elliot Lindley (Amos Hart); Zara Psirakis and Deeana Cheongfoo, Gus Heerey and Wesley Woodhouse, respectively. Each student brought such talent and unique skill to their role. Thanks also to the incredible Ensemble who equally shone, performing all six shows, each better than the last, and the Krew, that made the production look seamless. Also, a musical is nothing without the orchestra – brilliant work girls – the music was sublime.

All productions are a collaborative effort, and I would especially like to acknowledge my Co-Director and Choreographer, Kate Walder, for her unique choreography and her endless work in bringing our shared vision of this entertaining show to such inspirational life. We would both like to thank the support and efforts of Pani Karamanos, as Musical Director, Toni Powell, as Vocal Director and Catherine McKay, our repetiteur extraordinaire, each of whom were with us for every rehearsal in the seven months it took to prepare the show. All share in the responsibility for its success. Huge thanks must also go to our student assistant Mia De Oglu, who demonstrated such flair and initiative in the role. I would also like to thank Jennie Mitchell for her extensive support with the program and backstage, Kelly Assef’s incredible work with hairdressing each night, Melinda Buterin, Kambala’s indefatigable Event Manager, and all staff and parent volunteers who assisted with the show.
