Kambala Enrolment Yalari Program Feature 1

Kambala’s long-standing commitment to educating young Indigenous women is a source of immense pride and a core value of our school community.

Our partnership with Yalari has been foundational to this journey; since 2012, it has provided life-changing opportunities for girls from rural communities to board and study at Kambala. To date, 12 Yalari scholars have successfully completed their HSC.

Building on the success of these impressive young Indigenous women, we are proud to have established the Mamang Scholarship Program.

ABOUT THE MAMANG SCHOLARSHIP

The Mamang Scholarship, named after the Dharawal word meaning Sister, celebrates the power of sisterhood, belonging, and shared growth. Founded in 2025 through a partnership between Kambala and the Gujaga Foundation, the scholarship reflects a shared commitment to fostering courage, curiosity, cultural identity and community.

It offers an opportunity for young women to thrive within Kambala’s global network of support while remaining deeply connected to the language, culture and heritage of the La Perouse Aboriginal community.

The Mamang Scholarship is offered annually to two students with an ancestral connection to the La Perouse Aboriginal community, beginning their Senior School journey at Year 7 entry. It is open to descendants of Aboriginal peoples who demonstrate a strong sense of commitment, potential, and a desire to contribute to both their community and the broader life of the school.

A COMMUNITY WIDE CULTURAL JOURNEY

Our commitment extends beyond the classroom to a deepening, authentic connection with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge, histories, and cultures. Through our growing partnership with the Gujaga Foundation, we are enriching the cultural understanding of our entire student body. By integrating these perspectives into our curriculum and daily life, we ensure all Kambala students graduate with the respect and insight necessary to engage meaningfully with First Nations histories in both the classroom and wider society.

A COMMUNITY-FUNDED VISION

Indigenous student funding at Kambala is now entirely supported by the generosity of our private donors and Kambala families. This philanthropic commitment is what allows us to provide a truly holistic and equitable education, independent of external government subsidies.

We invite you to join us in this transformative work. Whether by sponsoring a student or contributing to the long-term growth of the Mamang Scholarship Program, your support creates a direct and lasting impact. To discuss giving opportunities, please contact the Principal.
