Research highlights just how critical this emotional foundation is for young women, the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) emphasises that a strong sense of school connection acts as a primary buffer against social anxiety and emotional distress. In addition, studies show that girls who feel connected to their environment demonstrate higher cognitive engagement, persistence and stronger outcomes in literacy and numeracy. When a girl feels secure in her environment, it allows her to focus fully on learning and growing.
Creating Space for Connection
Our pastoral framework is deliberately designed to nurture connection in fun, considered, and age appropriate ways throughout your daughter’s entire schooling journey.
Here is a glimpse of how we bring this sense of belonging to life:
- Sisterhood Circles: Through our Sisterhood Circles, older and younger students come together in dedicated inter-cohort sessions. This mentorship gives younger girls familiar, friendly faces across the campus and offers senior students meaningful opportunities for leadership and empathy. We do these sessions every term, led by our Year 12 students.
- Transition programs with purpose: Events like our Kambala Academic Transition Day and Test and Connect are designed to familiarise girls with their environment, meet their teachers, speak to Year 7s, and navigate the Senior School.
- Family Welcome Events: Belonging extends beyond the student to the entire household. Through our welcome events, parent networks, and community gatherings, we ensure your family gets the opportunity to meet other families and come on campus.
