One of the great challenges of producing a Major Work – in any subject at school – is having time to invest in the creative process that is not interrupted by all the daily commitments that constitute the busy lives of Kambala students. As we draw closer to the submission date for the Major Works, the cohort of Year 12 HSC English Extension 2 students engaged in a day of intensive development, with time set aside to check in with mentor teachers, redraft and edit their projects.
The cohort of 2024 have developed an eclectic body of work – from podcasts, to literary criticism, suites of poetry, narratives, and ficto-criticism. The academic and imaginative capacity of these students is impressive, and their ability to engage with research and theory, and connect their ideas to emerging philosophical and socio-political events bodes very well for the next generation of thought leaders in this country.
