Empowering Our Students as Global Citizens

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Action program is a collaborative initiative delivered in partnership with global school alliances and grounded in the framework of the Global Citizen Diploma (GCD) and A Global Sisterhood. Through this program, students engage in meaningful action projects that address real-world issues such as clean water and sanitation, sustainability, and social responsibility.

Working alongside peers from overseas schools, students brainstorm ideas, share perspectives, and develop practical solutions they can carry forward. This collaborative approach encourages our young women to think critically about global challenges while recognising the strength and responsibility that comes from being a global citizen.

As part of the tour, Kambala partnered with Zhongshan Girls High School in Taipei and Hachioji High School in Tokyo, providing students with authentic international learning opportunities. Reflecting Kambala’s Philosophy of Dispositional Learning, students are encouraged to listen to multiple perspectives, ask thoughtful questions, and learn through experience. Ultimately, the SDGs in Action program empowers students to act as confident, informed global citizens who contribute positively to a connected world.

Samantha Chen Yang, Languages Teacher and Tour Organiser, comments— “The SDGs in Action tour transformed learning into a lived experience, with students moving beyond theory to collaborate with peers overseas, engage with communities, and take meaningful action.” She noted it was powerful to witness their growth as globally minded young women who recognise that leadership, empathy, and impact are strongest when grounded in a global sisterhood.

Kate W (Year 12), a participating student shared:

“Overall, our experience in the SDG in Action program was one of the most valuable and memorable experiences of our journey at Kambala. It was the opportunity for us to foster intercultural exchange, develop leadership skills, deepen our global understanding and form an awareness of our shared humanity and shared stewardship of our world. We highly recommend that 2026 Year 10 and 11 students sign up for this program to also experience an unforgettable journey.”
