The impact of the Duke of Edinburgh International Award

Kambala students embrace the opportunity to strive towards their Duke of Edinburgh International Award. Students from Year 9 to Year 12 signed up to take part in the program which has been impacting our students’ Senior School experience for over six decades.

The award challenges students to step outside of their comfort zones, nurtures independence and provides students with the skills to overcome obstacles, while focusing on four activities: Volunteering, Physical Recreation, SKills and Expedition. Through completing the required hours for these activities students gain mental resilience, adaptability, social responsibility, survival skills and lasting friendships.
Beyond certificates, the award nurtures leadership, resilience, and responsibility. Kambala continues to exceed the national average for Award recipients, demonstrating the motivation and durability of our girls.

At Kambala we encourage all students’ to engage and participate in this program that is introduced in the Senior School in Year 9 through the Red Earth Cultural Immersion
