Hampshire House’s La Lechuza enjoys some home visits!

La Lechuza is our Margaret White room mascot. La Lechuza, means “The Owl” in Spanish. This little owl likes to get to know every one of our children and their families a little bit better, so each weekend she joins the children and their families on the weekend adventures!

The children take it in turns to have their special visits. Each week a family is invited to take La Lechuza home where she spends a special weekend with one of the children. There is a special book where we document all the fun things the children and their families do together so that the children can share their experiences with their friends.

Having a room mascot is a great way to build community and diversity, bringing families into the classroom, extending on children’s learning and supporting a sense of belonging.
