Kambala Introduces Ground-Breaking Functional Movement Program

Posted by Kambala

Kambala is the first school in Australia to introduce a ground-breaking functional movement and wellbeing program.

The Movement Patterns Program developed specifically for Schools by FMS UK will enable our Physical Education Department to screen for movement efficiency to ensure students have a good foundation of movement quality.  Every student involved will have a personalised development pathway, to support balance, mobility and postural control.

Marius Ndiaye, Head of PDHPE/Director of Sports Strategy, stated that “the PDHPE program at Kambala values physical literacy and exposure to a whole range of sports to promote a lifelong love of physical activity. As part of our Sports Strategy, the inclusion of FMS UK into our Years 7 to 10 PDHPE program will be an exciting and integral step in further developing and strengthening the fundamental movement skills of our girls giving them more confidence and fluency in their movement.

“We believe that this program will give us an edge as a teaching tool with the use of technology and individualised feedback to provide a holistic learning experience for our girls. The Whole Girl is the focus of everything that we do, and we look forward to seeing the impact that this will have on their overall wellbeing in the long-term.’’

Peter Bowler, CEO, FMS UK, said, “Kambala School is forward-thinking and a perfect partner for FMS UK.  A child’s ability to move well has a direct correlation to their confidence and association with sport and physical activity.  Our mission is to support the girls to develop movement habits that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.”
